Sudanese Grace Episcopal Church is a community founded by former Lost Boys & Girls of Sudan – the estimated 20,000 children who fled from war-torn rural southern Sudan in the 1980s-1990s. We journeyed from what is now South Sudan, stopping in refugee camps in Ethiopia and Kenya, before making Grand Rapids our home.
Sudanese Grace started in 2003 under the love, guidance and mentoring of the late Rev. Charles H. Howell and members of Grace Episcopal Church in East Grand Rapids. We held our first worship service there in 2003.
Over the past 20 years, our faithful congregation has worshiped in several locations in the greater Grand Rapids area. As a result of the generosity of the former Wallin Congregational Church and our friends and supporters across Michigan and the United States, we now enjoy our own permanent home.
